The Naked Grace Missionaries Set Out on an Enigmatic Voyage of Self-Discovery with Their Latest EP, 'Sacred Heart Hotel’

‘Sacred Heart Hotel’ offers a dreamy, contemplative, and politically aware atmosphere, permeated with dark acoustic and progressive folk elements.

LONDON, UK (April 26, 2024) – The Naked Grace Missionaries, the enigmatic musical collective renowned for their introspective and soul-stirring compositions, have released their new EP, Sacred Heart Hotel. With a blend of dreamy melodies, thought-provoking lyrics, and ethereal harmonies, this EP promises to be a captivating exploration of the human condition. The journey of self-exploration and understanding one's own mind is a central theme, often referred to as the “Examined Life” in philosophical discourse. Through the trials and tribulations of life, individuals stumble, learn, grow, and venture into uncharted territories, sometimes encountering setbacks. It is the manner in which they navigate through these moments that shapes the path toward a brighter future. Despite the omnipresence of pain and challenges, finding solace in stillness and introspection can ease the burden. However, in the complexities of modern existence, achieving this tranquility is often a formidable task, with the cacophony of daily life and the relentless barrage of external influences vying for attention. Nevertheless, amidst the chaos, the band reminds listeners to protect the vulnerable and seek solace in communal bonds.

The band aspires for listeners to experience a blend of intrigue and warmth from this project. Their aim is to both provoke thought and provide comfort, extending a metaphorical embrace to each individual. Recognizing the challenges of life, they seek to offer solace through their music. Additionally, they hope to ignite the imagination of their audience by sharing historical references woven into their compositions.

Track One: “Black Mountain”

“Black Mountain” delves into the idea of cleansing the world and the mind from societal conditioning. Drawing inspiration from Jodorowsky's Holy Mountain, a film cherished by the band, the titular black mountain serves as a symbol of this theme. It reflects the complexity of the human experience, where integrating both light and darkness within oneself while still embodying kindness is the ultimate aspiration. Referencing the significance of the number 23 in the works of William Burroughs and others, the song explores the concept of synchronicity and the collective consciousness.

Track Two: “Sacred Heart Hotel”

At the beginning of the track, it is revealed that this composition addresses themes of mortality, reflecting on the universal uncertainty surrounding death. Additionally, it explores the theme of human cruelty, highlighting the paradoxical power of language to shape both uplifting dreams and harrowing nightmares. In the current landscape, where existential threats loom large, the song underscores the resilience of the human spirit as we strive to navigate a world overshadowed by peril.

Track Three: “Uriel”

“Uriel” holds deep significance for the band, recounting a moment of a peculiar vision experienced during a stay in Dalston. Whether it was a figment of imagination remains uncertain, yet Smith recalls seeing an angel with a flaming sword. This singular encounter lingered in her mind, ultimately inspiring the creation of the song, which carries a profound sense of reverence. Despite perceptions that their projects solely embody themes of hardness and darkness, the band emphasizes that their artistic expression encompasses the transcendent and the beautiful aspects of the human experience. They believe in the presence of angels within everyone, shaping each person’s journey through life.

This project constitutes a significant component of a vast body of work that the band is passionate about sharing. Keep a close eye on The Naked Grace Missionaries as they continue to present thought-provoking moments of introspection throughout 2024.

Sacred Heart Hotel is now available on all major streaming platforms.

About The Naked Grace Missionaries:
“The Naked Grace Missionaries […] consists of two ethereally beautiful girls and one bearded guy singing acoustic songs inspired by The Manson Family and The Wicker Man…” - Broadly (Vice Media)

The Naked Grace Missionaries are a formidable acoustic trio delivering sermons as songs from the bible of popular and unpopular culture. Singing unheard protest songs from an unknown era, their sound is a dirt road to a tender dawn, a magick proclamation and a howl in desperate hours of the night.

Imagine late night acid soaked sing-a-longs with Charles Manson at Spahn Ranch, the final moments of The Wicker Man and the Heaven's Gate cult collide. Not afraid of the darkness, but reveling in the ecstatic, NGM is the sound of the pain of a dystopian future channeled through the unquiet ghosts of the past. The songs are crafted with the love of classic singer songwriter material we all adore from previous eras, but without a desire to replicate any particular band or style, just to be true to lush melody, challenging arrangements and intriguing concepts.

Recently signed to U.K. number one hit producer KDA’s label The 40 Records, powered by SONY’s The Orchard, NGM recently released their official EP, Glossolalia.
