Renowned London Duo Unveils Otherworldly Experimental SuperTrap Single

LONDON, UK (March 3, 2024) – Occult Hardware, the boundary-pushing band known for their eclectic sound, is gearing up to release their latest single, "Capstone," out March 8. The single promises to captivate listeners with its introspective, esoteric, and emotionally charged energy. The song represents a journey into new sonic territories for Occult Hardware, as they collaborate with emerging production and performance talent, BRNSRGHT. Renowned as the musical director of the Olivier Award-winning stage production "Traplord," BRNSRGHT brings a unique perspective to the song, infusing the single with a polished yet authentic sound.

Led by Fayann Smith and Rob Burnham of sister band The Naked Grace Missionaries, Occult Hardware is designed to push boundaries. Smith initiated the new project to display their versatility - switching stripped down guitars for soundscapes fueled by artistic innovation. Describing their sound as "ethereal super trap," Occult Hardware draws inspiration from a myriad of influences, including global rap, experimental electronic music, and underground UK genres. With elements of trap, early American hip-hop, and the Bristol sound pioneered by artists like Tricky and Massive Attack, "Capstone" offers listeners a sonic journey unlike any other.

Thematically, the single delves into the sense of isolation and turmoil prevalent in today's world. It's a song about personal sovereignty, resistance, and cautious optimism in the face of adversity. Occult Hardware aims to be a soundtrack to the emerging future, offering a beacon of hope amidst the chaos.

"We wanted to create music that resonates with the feelings unleashed by this strange moment in history," says Occult Hardware. "Our sound walks the line between extreme light and darkness, embracing the dichotomy and acknowledging it."

With "Capstone," Occult Hardware invites listeners to join them on a journey into the unknown, where technology liberates mankind and creativity knows no bounds. "Capstone" will be available for download and streaming on March 8.

More About Occult Hardware:

Occult Hardware (Fayann Smith/Robert Burnham) are a hybrid multimedia art and music project that elude classification and defy genre. “Combusting the alchemical elements of the internet to produce Bass Metal...” their sound is an experimental collision of pop ephemera, contemporary dance production, dark abstract electronica and live ritual. Collaging the sacred and the profane from popular culture and splicing it to fit their esoteric personal mythos, the Occult Hardware experience is an audiovisual attack like no other.

Their confrontational, experimental projects have been featured in US/Japanese/Swedish Vogue, The Sunday Times, Nylon Japan, The Observer Music Monthly, Grazia, BBC Television, Dazed, Time-Out London, Pop Magazine, i-D and many more respected titles. Playing across the globe the duo have rocked Glastonbury twice and performed alongside iconic acts such as The Libertines, Clor, Midnight Juggernauts, The Noisettes, Crim3s, Test Icicles (Devontè Hynes), Siobhan Fahey, Zebra Katz plus many more.
