Steinsdotter Celebrates Chosen Families with Surprisingly Festive Club Single “5D”
London, UK (December 6, 2024) — Steinsdotter is closing out her year-long Full Moon Series with a bang: “5D,” an unconventional holiday anthem for those who don’t see themselves in traditional Christmas imagery. Releasing on December 15 to coincide with the Cold Moon, “5D” is a spirited and defiant celebration of chosen families, queer joy, and the magic of creating your own traditions.
This is no typical festive tune. Instead, “5D” delivers an electrifying, sweat-drenched beat made for queer dance floors and alternative holiday gatherings. Reflecting on the track, Steinsdotter says:
“Sometimes in life, people underestimate you because they simply don’t know what you’re packing! ‘5D’ is a festive song poking fun at the naysayers — but not in a cranky way. More like in a comical, sweaty, queer dance-floor kind of way!”
Steinsdotter, a chart-topping London artist known for genre-defying music that spans dance, folk, rock, and meditative soundscapes, created “5D” as an “anti-Christmas” anthem for those who have had to reimagine the holiday season.
“This song is for those of us who don’t fit into the picture-perfect, consumer-driven, Coca-Cola family Christmas. It’s for people who had to create their own queer families or new holiday traditions because they’ve been rejected by their blood families. Honestly, some of my best Christmases have been spent with wild and wonderful people — pirates from all over the world breaking bread together. That pure joy and acceptance beats anything else in my eyes.”
Written by Steinsdotter and her longtime collaborator Agon Branza, and produced by Branza, “5D” carries the bold, unapologetic energy that has defined her Full Moon Series.
