Olivia Dolphin's New Cathartic Anthem of Feminine Rage

“Ghost Story” captures the raw intensity of online dating, ghosting, and feminine rage, all wrapped in an energetic rock ballad. With a fusion of pop and rock vocals and a prominent presence of snare drums, the track embodies a tale that echoes with haunting melody and rhythmic intensity.

PROVIDENCE, RI (May 31, 2024) – Rising alternative rock and witch pop artist, Olivia Dolphin, is set to release her new single, "Ghost Story," on June 21, offering a powerful and cathartic anthem for anyone who has experienced the modern dating phenomenon of ghosting. Recorded, mixed, and mastered at Big Nice Studios in Lincoln, RI, "Ghost Story" is a hauntingly fun and relatable track that blends pop and rock elements with Dolphin’s signature storytelling. More than just a break-up song, it serves as an anthem of reclaiming one's power amidst the abrupt end of communication from a partner. It's the tale shared around a campfire among close friends, reliving the latest dating adventures—a ghostly anecdote for the ages. Drawing inspiration from a diverse array of artists, including Chappell Roan, Alanis Morissette, and Pat Benetar, Dolphin crafts a dynamic and multifaceted track that mirrors the vocal style and emotional intensity of these influential musicians. Featuring Dolphin on vocals and piano, accompanied by Johnny McMahon on bass guitar, Jeff Kidd on harmonica, Luke Leheny on guitar, and Sam Jaksa on drums, the track was expertly produced and mixed by Emma Newton, with mastering handled by Brad Krieger.

"I want listeners to feel seen in their experience in the online dating world," Dolphin explains. "Ghosting is no joke and can really mess with your mind. I hope the twist on this experience in the lyrics is cathartic for listeners who have been through a bad ghosting. This one is for the Halloween witch girlies all year round."

Dolphin has written two songs about her experiences with being ghosted. The first was an emotional ballad about someone fading away, while "Ghost Story" represents the other side of the coin—rage. A previous arrangement of "Ghost Story" appeared on Dolphin’s first album. With the evolution of her music and addition of a full band, she felt it was time record the song again, figuring if someone can ghost her twice, she can record the song she wrote about it twice.

"Ghost Story" is an anthem for the romantic witch girlies who just want to scream and shout. It's about the frustration of ceased communication without warning and finding a way to move on.

“Ghost Story” will be available to stream on all major platforms June 21.
