Kate Cosentino Treads Lightly with New Dark Pop Single “Swim”

NASHVILLE, TN (February 1, 2024) – Kate Cosentino's latest single, "Swim," is set to hit streaming platforms on February 23 to introduce the next chapter of her career, which includes a national tour and more new music from the Niall Horan mentee.

Crafted in collaboration with songwriter Kennedy Wilde, "Swim" delves into the complexities of relationships, particularly when one person becomes ensnared in the web of infatuation too swiftly. The song invites listeners to question everything and trust no one in the tumultuous landscape of modern love. Produced by the renowned Tony Chetta, known for his work on hits like "Prettiest Girl in the Room" and "Call Me," the new track promises a fresh sonic experience while maintaining Cosentino’s signature style.

Thanks to her recent time on NBC’s The Voice, Cosentino has had the privilege of collaborating with Niall Horan, her mentor on the show, and has received outstanding support from fans - both old and new.

The pop singer-songwriter will be on the road this spring and summer as she tours and meets fans in cities including Atlanta, Raleigh, and Nashville [official dates to be announced soon on Instagram].

"Swim" draws inspiration from luminaries like Banks and Aluna George as it submerges listeners in a sonic ocean, where dark pads and muted tones evoke the sensation of being underwater. The single marks a departure from Kate's usual repertoire, exploring darker themes with more nuance and depth. While it may diverge from her previous work, fans of narrative-driven songs like "I Don’t Know Where it Went Wrong" will find solace in the raw authenticity of "Swim."

“Swim” will be available on all major streaming platforms on February 23.

More about Kate Cosentino:

Well-versed in the art of puns and guitar-shredding, Kate Cosentino’s music is something of jazzy sleekness atop the lyrical precision of witty slam poetry. Garnering acclaim from initiatives like the Nashville Ballet and Bluebird Cafe’s Emergence Series as well as the Johnny Mercer Foundation’s Songwriters Project, Cosentino’s soulful songstress abilities are anything but commonplace.

The Nashville-based singer’s discography is aflush with lyrical quippings that indulge in clever wordplay and poignance in the same breath. Songs like “Dirt On It,” “Starving For Love” and “Just Remember” deal with struggles and hardship in a dark world, but Cosentino doesn’t shy away. If anything, her music lets the light in. Donning her personal sound with the fitting description of “Regina Spektor and Norah Jones meeting a Charlie Puth bassline,” Cosentino’s genre-bending style coupled with her authentic storytelling talent make for consistently compelling works of art. Her EP Note to Self was released in May of 2022 and received praise from several outlets including Rolling Stone India. It’s an upbeat homage to her college days covering romantic escapades, identity crises, and struggles with body image. You can stream it on all platforms.
