Amelie Jat Reflects on a Love Lost in Time on New Nostalgic Single “2028”

“2028” evokes a powerful sense of nostalgia with dreamlike synth, an airy piano melody, and pulsating beats. This chill-pop track finds Jat accepting the wistfulness that stems from meeting the right person at the wrong time and embracing the notion that destiny will take its course.

LONDON, UK (August 4, 2023) – In anticipation of her upcoming album release scheduled for this fall, Amelie Jat presents her new single2028,” available on all major streaming platforms now. Influenced by the resonate sounds of the ‘80s, Jat utilizes vocoded layers while reminiscing on a love found too soon and finding solace in what cannot be changed. This unique perspective, coupled with a sense of reverie, crafts the perfect track for pondering the question “what if?” It promotes introspection while skating across a sentimental soundscape. Despite her initial disappointment, Jat accepts her circumstances and recognizes the hand fate has dealt her. The brief departure from her heavier pop-punk sound brings a refreshing and delicate quality to the track's production and offers a tantalizing glimpse into the depth and versatility present within Jat's creative repertoire. Initially penned in May 2022, the long-awaited single resembles sounds from artists such as Maisie Peters, Nessa Barrett, and Gracie Abrams.

After presenting the track to producer James McMillan in June 2022, both Jat and McMillan are elated to share it with the world. The dynamic duo is credited for producing Jat's previous hits, including "my band hates you!,” "Therapy,” and "Faking Parties.” Contemplating the idea that time unfolds according to its predetermined course, Jat candidly remarks, “There’s nothing you can do about it except to wait and see what the future holds.” The track, from her perspective, conveys a sense of heartbreak, yet with an understanding that it was merely a matter of unfortunate timing and circumstance. Jat believes that if it is meant to be, it will find its way back to her in the future. Within her lyrics, she pens, “I’ll dye my hair blue, watch it fade to green / Left that voicemail, take the last train home / I hope you stay but I know you won’t.” These lyrics eloquently embody the passage of time and the numbness of realization, prompting her profound comprehension of the inevitable. Ultimately, “2028” captures the essence of acceptance, resonating through a captivating and nostalgic ambience.

More about Amelie:

Amelie Jat transforms her most honest emotions and experiences to create her own original sound of genre-blurring, diary-like pop tracks. Born and raised in Hong Kong, she discovered her love of the drum kit at the age of 3 and swiftly shifted her passions onto playing orchestral percussion, such as the four-mallet vibraphone.

Starting with a sound of bedroom pop production, she has now crossed over into the pop punk universe with influences like Maggie Lindemann, Avril Lavigne, and LØLØ. A multi-instrumentalist who began songwriting on her childhood bedroom floor at the age of 11, she is now a verified artist and hopes that her music will reach people and connect with them.

Stepping out of her comfort zone and taking on a new direction, Amelie has released 3 new pop-punk singles in 2022, all co-written & co-produced with Grammy-nominated producer James McMillan. Since the release of “I’M OUT”, “Therapy” & “Electric Butterflies” (which has surpassed 129k YouTube views), she has gained 85k TikTok followers, with her most viewed post being close to two thirds of a million views, and the newest 2 singles are currently on over 350 Spotify playlists worldwide. Her new mixtape “CINEMATIC!” is an extension of her most chaotic, shaping, and memorable moments as she moves through life and comes into her own, and is every main character’s soundtrack.
