Jat draws on feelings of letdown in “YOU RUINED MY BIRTHDAY” by using the metaphor “glitter tears,” meant to symbolize dressing up and putting on a happy face when you’re really not having the time of your life. Along with this, she uses the idea of being thrown around like cheap confetti to express the experience of not being treated how you deserve to be. All in all, Amelie aims to sonically express her transition to embrace being the “bad guy” in a fun and unique take on revenge, self-proclaiming it as her villain origin story.
